..::.. J a s e ..::.. ...Sometimes we have to face our fears and not run away... ...Even if the truth hurts... "Well lets hope about the girlfriend thing. Sorry about having no friends...I'll be one." She said and smiled. Jase looked over at her and smiled back. "Sound good to me, and I promise there's no girlfriend who will jump at you...." Smiling good naturally, Jase thought of how it really did sound like a win-win situation. Both of them had said they didn't have many friends...they could be each other's friend. Problem solved. Kind of.
After he had said the bit about how their stories were the same...she asked, "Really? Do tell," And raced to open the door for him. It looked as if, maybe just maybe he had lifted her mood. That made him happier too.
Once they were both outside, Jase pulled a little red-and-white umbrella out of his backpack. Laughing he asked, "You're sure you want to hear it? And here," he held the umbrella out toward her and said, "If you spin it, it looks like a peppermint." Jason grinned and tried to remember where exactly he had parked his car.( ooc; His car: smoothasvelvet.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=acceptedcharries&thread=132&page=1 )

"You're sure you want to hear it? And here." Jase told her holding an umbrella towards her. "Thanks for the umbrella." She said, smoothing out her sort of wet hair. "Of course, I want to here your story Jase." She said as she touched his arm and did a little jump. Her mood was better now that Jase had came into the picture for the day. Jase walked to his car and Kaylie followed. She twirled the umbrella a little bit and waited for Jase to get in the car and then she would.

Jase opened the car door for Kaylie and then got in on the drivers side. It smelled like new car, and it was extremely clean...except for a gym bag in the back with clean running clothes and shoes. Starting the car, Jase shivered. It was unseasonably cold. "You can just throw that back there if you want, or put it on the floor. Might want it later." The windshield wipers came on as the car came to life, warm air blowing out of the vents. His iPod was sitting in the cup holder right by a bottle of water. It was connected to the car but not on. "You can turn it on if you want..." he said and gestured toward the iTouch. "Kay...my story. Where to start." Jase gave a short laugh and stared through the windshield, squinting against the now pounding rain. "So, I lived in Forks since I was seven and we moved. I can't remember exactly what happened...I think dad got a job offer. Either that or mom wanted a house there. In Utah." He clarified. "So we lived there until I was seventeen. I guess my dad wanted me to have the 'Forks high school experience' that he had so we moved back. Even have the same house. Anyway...here's how it's kind of the same." Jase gripped the steering wheel until his knuckles turned white; this would be the hard part in the story. "So five months after we got back...that was six months ago today I think...mhm. Anyway that was when Kevin ah...when he died. He had a disease but they never figured out what it was....So yeah..." Jase had the feeling that his eyes were darker now, his knuckles were absolutely white. Jase let go with one hand to take his cell phone out of his backpack. With a short motion, he flipped it open for Kaylie to see. The background was of him and Kevin posing in front of a movie poster for Transformers. (Kevin's favorite movie.) ( ooc; depressing post...got it out of the way tho... )

"You can turn it on if you want.." Jase told her looking at the ipod. "Nah thanks." She asid. "Kay my story" Jase said and then started on about a bunch of depressing things. When he finshed Kayile was pale. It was sad. The same thing that happened to her except her was her mom. "Oh my god. I'm terribly sorry!" Kaylie said with her hand gripped tight on the backpack. She thred it in the backseat. "Uhm, I like your car." Kaylie said all tense in the chair because of the awkward moment after the story. "So, uh, where are we going for lunch." Kaylie asked.

..::.. J a s e ..::.. ...Sometimes we have to face our fears and not run away... ...Even if the truth hurts... After a few minutes of just rain hitting windshield and quiet breathing, Jase thawed. His smile came back and when he looked at Kylie she looked pale. "Oh my god. I'm terribly sorry!" She was holding her backpack like it would try to run away. Without taking his eyes off the road, Jase touched Kylie's hand where she was gripping her backpack. "Hey, it's all good." False smiles could be effective. "And thanks. I love my car. So did...er, never mind." He almost said Kevin again and that wouldn't help.
"So, uh, where are we going for lunch?" Kaylie asked and Jason sighed. He hadn't thought it all out that far. "It doesn't matter to me...is there somewhere you wanna go? I just wanted to get out of there cause its the....anniversary." He hadn't been sure of how to put it but any way you said it, five months ago was the exact day Kevin died. "I just need something with sugar... Diabetes, y'know?" Jase looked back at the road. That wasn't really a secret but he was always afraid people would tease him about it. Who knew? Though Kaylie wasn't exactly 'people'.

"It doesn't matter to me... is there somewhere you wanna go I just wanted to get out of there cause it the.... anniversary." Jase told her. "Oh my god." Kayla said as she turned the air conditioner in the car facing her. "Uhm, no preference on where to go. Sorry. Maybe we could go to that really fancy restraunt that just opened up. Ya know?" She asked maybe he didn't know. "Do you have money?" She said forgetting that little concept.

..::.. J a s e ..::.. ...Sometimes we have to face our fears and not run away... ...Even if the truth hurts... A few moments before, Kaylie had asked if they could go to some fancy restaurant that Jase hadn't even heard of. Though he had been distracted lately. "That sounds good to me...as long as you can show me where it is. And yes," Jase laughed. "I do have money."
Thunder crashed in the sky loud enough to vibrate a pair of aviator sunglasses that were in the cup holder. Other than that it was very very quiet. Jase let go of the steering wheel with both hands and moved the steering wheel with his knees...like his dad always did. Reaching to-wards his iTouch, Jase hoped he wouldn't scare Kaylie. He knew that he could drive with knees without crashing. Kaylie on the other hand, probably didn't.
Once he had it and had a hold of the steering wheel, Jason flipped through the songs on his iPod. There were over five hundred...almost every kind of music you could imagine. Except hardcore rap and the most hick-sounding country some people actually liked. "Who's your favorite singer, Kay?" The nickname had come out automatically...Hope she doesn't mind...

Jase started driving with his knees. "What are you doing!?!" Kaylie asked but by the time she finsihed the whole questions he had his hands back on the wheel. Whos your favorite singer, Kay?" Jase asked her. "Uhm, I dont know. I havent heard much recent music." Kaylie admitted. Even since her mom died she didn't listen or watch anything. She was never in the mood so she didn't know what people listening to now-days.

..::.. J a s e ..::.. ...Sometimes we have to face our fears and not run away... ...Even if the truth hurts... As if on que, Kaylie squealed "What are you doing!?!" Jase grinned over at Kaylie almost guiltily and laughed quietly. "Ha, my dad drives like that all the time. I guess I picked it up...and sorry if I scared you."
Kaylie had said she didn't listen to music much lately, which Jase found relatable and crazy. Before the whole Kevin thing, music was his life. Now he shied away from it because it was Kevin's life too...or rather, it had been. "I can understand that. So..." he flipped through the songs probably five times and resorted to using Shuffle. The song that came on was one that Jase liked. "Is this okay with you? And uhm...where is that restaurant again? Like, in Forks or Port Angeles? I'm fine with either." Jase was humming with the song and eventually started singing the parts he knew best. Nobody had ever said that he was a good singer, but nobody ever said he was a bad singer either so he didn't really know. With that though, he really didn't care. This was a good song.ooc; Nikkidoodle, you can pick the song. lolz. Just don't make it something Disney...... ;P

"Yeh the song is fine. Its in Forks. I don't remember the name. but you can turn up here and then its like right on the end of the street you turn on." Kaylie explained not knowing if the directions made any since.
Jase started singing along with the music. "Your a good singer you know." Kaylie told him with a smile. She occaisonally sang along with the parts she knew. It was Build God, Then We'll Talk. Kaylie put her hand slightly on the volume and turned it to the right a tad so it would be louder. But not too much louder.

..::.. J a s e ..::.. ...Sometimes we have to face our fears and not run away... ...Even if the truth hurts... Jase grinned when she complemented him...he didn't even know that it was his music. There were so many songs on that iPod...including, Hannah Montana, Hollywood Undead, BMTH, Cheetah Girls, Elvis, and various episodes of Dora the Explorer. Clearly, Jase's iPod wasn't completely his...it was shared.
Sure enough, The Best of Both Worlds started playing next on the same high booming volume the Panic! song had been on. Shaking his head in exasperation, Jase turned to Kaylie and said, "So...you like Dora too?" He gave her half of half a minute to respond to that, and said "I really don't listen to Dora...I swear." He laughed and continued, "My baby sister likes to use my iPod. So does my grandpa...and my older sister."
As they turned the corner, Jase was caught up in his small conversation and his thoughts about Kevin (which he was not showing...wanting to be positive like Kylie had been) he hadn't been paying attention to exactly how sharp that corner really was.
Jase gripped the steering wheel with white knuckles and a panic filled expression as the pounding rain puddles made them hydroplane. "Oh shit,"

"So... you like Dora too? Jase asked jokingly. "I really dont listen to Dora I swear. My baby sister likes to use my IPod. So does my grandpa and my older sister." He told her. "Nah its fine. Dora pretty cool." Kaylie said with a laugh.
"Oh, shit." Kaylie heard Jase say. "What? Whats happened Jase?" She said in a panicy and whiny voice. She closed her eyes and looked at Jase and refused to look at the rode. "No" She muttered to herself with her eyes almost shut and her head facing Jase.

It could've been funny...the atmosphere in the car had gone from joking about Dora, to icy cold panic. It could've been. But it wasn't. Jase, himself had never actually hydroplaned though he had been in the car when his dad did. But that was back when he was six years old...to long ago to remember what they'd done to get out of the situation.
At this moment, his eyes were huge. "What? What happened Jase?" Jase's jaw tightened as he fought the stupid car for control. It felt like they were flying...he couldn't get a grip. "Its...we're...hydroplaning. Put your seat belt on." He said and glanced at her for the shortest second. Kylie had her eyes shut and her head turned to the side quietly mouthing what looked like 'no'. Wipping his head back around Jase's eyes were huge and back on the road. Thunder crashed loudly...like a warning.

"Its...we're....hydroplaning. Put your seatbelt on." Jase told her. hydroplaning? hydroplaning, really? When Kaylie finally met a guy, that was nice to her. That liked her even if her mom died and she had all thsoe little problems with her. They were hydroplaning. She swung he seatbelt over and buckled it. He kept her eyes on Jase's face still not wanting to look at the road. "Jase!" She screamed in a panicy voice. "Please do something! Do something! Please! Jase. Jase." She said in a whiny voice. Was this all realy happening? What would happen. She didn't want to die. Not this young atleast. "Jase." She said again and gripped his shoulder making sure to keep looking at him and not the road. She didn't want to see what was happening.

There was a *click* sound that was obviously a seatbelt being fastened and then there was an eerie silence; filled only with pounding rain, screeching tires, thunder and heavy breathing. Both of them were very obviously scared. For the first time in his life, Jase wished he was still at school and not out driving. What a moment in time.
He was so tense...wound very tight and jumped hugely when he felt Kylie's hands grip onto his stiff arm. Of course Jase didn't push her away, she was scared and shouting things like his name and 'no', or 'do something!'. He wished he could. Slowly, knowing that there wasn't much to do in this particular second, Jase reached out and patted her shoulder. "It's gonna be okay, shh. shh" He really did hope it would be okay.
At one point, they came to a particularly soaked street and the already skidding car started to spin. Faster. Faster Faster. Just like Jase's pulse. He could hear it in his ears. *thump thump. thump thump* The car was going faster....faster.
Shakily and dizzily, Jase risked a glance out the window. A large neon yellow sign read 'Dead End'. "Oh shit, oh shit, oh shit, oh shit," he hadn't known that it was said out loud but that really would'nt matter anyway. They were both thinking it. Still staring out the window, things started to go in slow motion. Just like people always said.
A few more yards and a couple spins later, Jase's side of the car crashed into one of Forks biggest trees. Very bad luck. The airbags puffed up and though the car stopped, they didn't.
At least Kylie had been wearing a seatbelt.
